From the founder & formulator

Why Leonica created this soap.

“I wanted to create an everyday cleanser for people who love their soap but wish their skin felt more comfortable after washing. Growing up in Jamaica, I watched grandmothers rub ripe banana peel onto their faces. When I asked why, their answer was simple: it helped soften their skin.

Those childhood memories stayed with me. Years later, my education in food science gave me a new way to explore the botanicals I grew up with.”

The inspiration behind the formulation

Thyme was more than a seasoning.

Leonica also remembers thyme leaves frozen in ice cubes and rubbed onto the skin, especially during breakouts.

Those memories, together with her education in food science, inspired the formulation of The Supple Skin Facial Soap.

Her goal was to bring that knowledge and care into an everyday cleansing ritual, with skin comfort at its heart.

The science behind the botanicals

Rooted in Tradition. Inspired by Science.

01 / Jamaican sorrel

More Than a Familiar Tradition

Jamaican sorrel (Hibiscus sabdariffa) naturally contains vitamin C. Research into the plant’s compounds helped inform the founder’s interest in this familiar botanical.

02 / Thyme

Where Tradition Meets Research

Thyme contains thymol and carvacrol, compounds studied for antimicrobial activity in laboratory settings.

These studies explore plant compounds; they do not establish antimicrobial effects or vitamin C benefits from the finished Facial Soap.
